With an additional subscription to the CatalogIt API, you can utilize our API and iFrame integration, or our WordPress plugin, to publish your collections directly to your own website, seamlessly and attractively.

Adding the API Subscription

Account owners can add the API integration to the subscription by clicking on the Main Menu, Settings, then Subscriptions and Add-ons.

WordPress Plugin

Our beta WordPress plugin has been submitted for approval and inclusion in the WordPress plugin directory; soon, you will be able to access it from there, and it will no longer be the beta version. There is no upgrade from the beta and the final version; when it is available from the WordPress plugin repository, simply delete the CatalogIt beta plugin and install the final version.  All the settings are the same and will remain intact.

To receive the beta WordPress Plugin, please reach out to us at support@catalogit.app

Web Publishing

Once you have received confirmation that your account is enabled for web publishing, click on your Main Menu > Web Publishing to toggle on Web Publishing and select your publishing preferences. Account owners and account admins have access to Web Publishing

At the top of the Web Publishing section is the toggle to turn web publishing on or off. Now that your account is enabled for publishing, you can toggle it on and off whenever you'd like. For your first time publishing, make sure it is toggled on!

There are three tabs in this section: Account, Entry, and Media.

Account

Publishing via API/WordPress plugin also features your collection through CatalogIt's HUB. The Account tab is where you'll make selections for your HUB page.

Choose the information that you would like to have visible from your Account Profile. Show or hide your Account Name, Description, Location, Website URL, Logo, or Background/Banner. Hiding your Account Name will display “Anonymous”.

Choose the background color of your HUB page from the following options:

  • Auto — CatalogIt will analyze the dominant color of your Entry images and set a complementary background color.
  • White — Sometimes a simple white background really does the trick!
  • Custom — Choose a custom color by inputting the RGB or Hex value of that color. For instance, for a black background, the RGB input would be: (0, 0, 0). The Hex value would be: #000000.

Entry

Select the Entry information you would like to include or exclude.

Choose your information from all available fields of information. You can easily include “All” fields by checking the “All” box.

If your ratio of fields to publish is greater than your ratio of fields to exclude, you can select “Exclude” from the drop-down box. Then, check the boxes of the fields you would like to exclude from being published.

Selecting fields of information to include in published Entries. In this example, “All” has been de-selected and the “Tags” field is not being included.

Media

Protecting Your Media

CatalogIt safeguards your images by utilizing “Web Quality” images, meaning they have a lower resolution than the original files uploaded to CatalogIt. This prevents page visitors from obtaining a copy of your media at original quality without your consent.

You can choose the images you would like to share and how they are displayed. Add an optional watermark to your images to help protect your media.

  • Published Media — Select Primary Image Only to publish the main image of each Entry, or select All Top-Level Images to publish all of the images of each Entry.
  • Image Sizes — Share images as their Natural Size, or opt for a consistent, uniform look with Square Size.
  • Image Adornment — Present your images with Square Corners or with Rounded Corners.
  • Watermark —If you would like to add a text watermark to your images, enter your text within the text field, and select from the following options where it will be located:
    • Top
    • Middle
    • Bottom
    • Top-Left
    • Top-Right
    • Bottom-Left
    • Bottom-Right
Example of a watermarked image from Anytown Museum. The size of the watermark text is determined by the length of the text: longer text will be smaller, to fit within the image, while shorter text will be larger. The color of the watermark text will automatically darken or lighten depending on the background of the image.

Publishing a Folder

Publishing Occurs at the Folder Level

Publishing at the Folder level enables you to selectively publish your Entries, while presenting your Entries however you would like to organize them. You cannot publish your main All Entries page, and you cannot publish a Folder Group.

If it's your first time creating a Folder and adding Entries to it, please feel free to check out the following articles:

Bulk Editing Entries

Account owners and account admins can quickly publish and un-publish a Folder!

To publish a Folder:

  • Select your Folder from the Main Menu.
  • Within the Folder, click the Action Menu in the upper-right corner.
  • Select Publish Folder.
A checkmark next to  “Publish Folder” indicates that it is published.

All of your Folders appear within your Main Menu. Folders with a globe icon are published online!

To un-publish a Folder, simply select your published Folder, click on the Action Menu, and click Publish Folder.

A Folder is unpublished when there is no checkmark next to “Publish Folder”.

Can I un-publish Entries within a published Folder?

Upon publishing a Folder, all Entries within that Folder are automatically published. You can publish and un-publish Entries within a published Folder by selecting your Entry, clicking the Action Menu, and selecting Publish

A checkmark indicates a published Entry.
