HUB Pro Setup Guide

HUB Pro is an add-on web publishing feature that provides enhanced customization, detailed analytics, audio and video playback, and custom DNS options.

HUB Pro is currently in a beta testing phase; please reach out to us at support@catalogit.app for more information.

HUB Pro can be integrated into your institution's existing website or can function as a standalone public-facing site to share and promote your collections. To integrate HUB Pro with your existing website, you can simply add a link to your site's navigation.

Before you begin: Your CatalogIt HUB must be set up before you can use HUB Pro. For instructions on setting up your HUB, including your Account Profile, Web Publishing settings, and published Folders, see this article.

Accessing HUB Pro

HUB Pro is accessed through a custom subdomain of  hubpro.io. That subdomain provides access to your HUB Pro site and ONLY your HUB Pro site  – it is private to you and visitors to that site cannot navigate to other sites.

For example:

https://anytownmuseum.hubpro.io

The subdomain defaults to your CatalogIt account's URL slug, but it can be customized.

You can also create a custom or "vanity" subdomain using your institution's existing domain, such as:

https://collections.anytownmuseum.com

Custom domains are an advanced feature that require an understanding of DNS configuration and CNAMES.

Subdomain and Host

HUB Pro's domain settings are available under Main Menu > Web Publishing > General.

  • Subdomain — Determines the  hubpro.io address used to access your HUB Pro site. By default, this is based on your account's URL slug.  We recommend keeping your slug and subdomain the same for user recognition and SEO but they can be different.
  • Host — Used for advanced custom CNAME DNS configuration.

Using a custom host allows your HUB Pro site to use the same of your institution's existing web site.

Customizing Your HUB Pro

HUB Pro provides substantially more customization than the basic HUB.

Navigate to Main Menu > Web Publishing > Theme to access the HUB Pro customization options. Use the toggle bar to switch between your HUB and HUB Pro settings.

When HUB Pro is enabled, the Theme tab includes the following sections:

  • Type
  • Colors
  • Layout
  • Style
  • Header

The Entry and Media tabs contain the same publishing settings available for the basic HUB.

Type

Use the Type settings to customize typography and text layout throughout your HUB Pro site.

Colors

Customize the colors used throughout your HUB Pro site to create a look that aligns with your institution's branding.

Layout

With the Layout settings, you control how your collection content is arranged.

You can customize the gap between Entry cards and choose how Folders are displayed, including grid or row views. You can also adjust the size of your thumbnails.

HUB Pro also provides additional control over the information displayed on Entry cards through slots.

You can select specific Entry fields to display in up to four slots on each Entry card. For example, you might choose to display fields such as Artist or Classification.

Header

Use the Header settings to customize your HUB Pro header and create a more cohesive experience with your institution's existing website.

You can also use navigation links to direct visitors to specific areas of your HUB Pro site, including individual published folders or entries.

To do this, add a relative link—the portion of the URL that comes after your domain name.

For example:

  • If the page you want to link to is https://anytownmuseum.com/folder
  • Use /folder as the Header Link value

This will direct visitors to that specific page when they click the navigation item in your header.

Audio and Video Playback

HUB Pro supports audio and video playback within the public-facing collections experience. The standard HUB does not provide direct audio and video playback.

Analytics

HUB Pro includes an array of detailed analytics to help you understand how web visitors interact with your collections.

You can:

  • Set a date range for your reports.
  • Filter results by Origin, including HUB, HUB Pro, and Iframe.
  • Review activity for Page Views, Entries, and Folders.
  • See information about user demographics, referrers, search terms, and media views.
  • Export reports as Excel or CSV files.
